London, October 2012. Mr Anthony Bailey has been re-appointed by decree of His Grace The Most Reverend Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster, as a Foundation Governor of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Westminster. This follows his earlier appointment in July 2005 and again in July 2008 by decree of the then Archbishop, His Eminence Cormac, Cardinal Murphy-O’Connor.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Westminster is an archdiocese led by the Archbishop of Westminster, who serves as pastor of the mother church, Westminster Cathedral and Metropolitan of the Metropolitan Province of Westminster. Since the re-establishment of the English Catholic dioceses in 1850 each Archbishop of Westminster has been created a cardinal by the Pope in consistory, often as the only cardinal in England.

The diocese is one of the smallest dioceses in England and Wales in geographical area, but the largest in terms of Catholic population and priests. It is legally established as a diocese, though canonically an archdiocese.
